The new season is upon us and we wanted to know which Cable & Streaming programs are most desirable to advertisers by measuring the connection that these shows have with their audiences.

Using E-Score Programs we have created the Passionate Fan Index (PFI) – a powerful measurement tool that factors in 14 key program variables including performance, attributes, and emotional connection. The following are some of the highest PFI scores across three different genres of television: Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror. And we added a few “Hidden Gems” that show promise as the season progresses. The data is among current viewers of each show age 13-54.

Top Dramas with Highly Engaged Audiences

• The FX drama Shogun won over viewers and created an immersive experience with its rich storytelling, deep historical context, high production values, and complex characters. The strong audience engagement and critical helped Shogun go from a limited series to a regular series with plans for two more seasons.

• Rapper turned media mogul, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, recently launched the 2nd largest Black-owned production studio in the U.S. in Louisiana – G-Unit Studios. He’s built a dedicated following within the crime drama genre with his Power franchise (the original series has spawned 3 spin-offs and a prequel series is in the works) and BMF series.

Comedies That Keep Audiences Hooked

• The dark comedy The White Lotus captivates viewers with its mix of mystery and satire, sparking discussions on societal issues. Its unpredictable twists and layered storytelling fuel online fan engagement, while the stunning resort backdrops have gone viral among travel enthusiasts.

• With the first season of the adult animated musical, Hazbin Hotel, Prime Video found huge success – the series saw the largest global debut viewership for a new animated title on the streamer. Anticipation for the series was already high with the buzzy A24 studio co-producing. The commercial and critical success already has Prime Video on board for three more seasons.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror Shows That Thrill Fans

• The Witcher series has thrived on Netflix for three seasons, but a cast change could challenge its fanbase. Henry Cavill, the popular Geralt of Rivia, will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. Fans have also enjoyed two spin-offs: the animated The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and the prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin.

• Apple TV+ is becoming a home for quality sci-fi programming and three of the streamer’s series qualify as hidden gems. For All Mankind was one of the initial slate of programs that helped launch Apple TV+ back in 2019 and the show has continued to build a fan following that has lasted 4 seasons with a 5th on the way.
