The characters on our TV and computer screens can be as endearing to adults as they are to children. We laugh at their antics, and can even relate to them at times. We went straight to the source to find out who are the most recognizable, and appealing characters from video games, TV, and Movies, according to gamers (those who play video games in the action/ adventure, casual online, or family genre).

It is no surprise Steve from Minecraft shows up on this list.  Even though Steve doesn’t talk or show much personality, he is a master builder talented enough to create complex structures in the game. It is interesting that Minecraft has a below average awareness for being the third best selling video game of all time.

Scrat, the sabre-tooth squirrel from Ice Age and the LEGO DC Super Heroes both have below average awareness, but among the people who know them, they have an above average appeal.

Spongebob SquarePants is easily the most recognized character on this list. Given his popularity, Spongebob has numerous video games available to enjoy his silly adventures with his friends in Bikini Bottom.

The gaming business is a huge and valuable market. Whether you are looking to create new gaming experiences, develop products targeted at gamers, or explore licensing opportunities, E-Score can help you determine the true attitudes of your target market, whatever their demographic, media usage, pychographic or behavioral profile might be.
